Intel Discloses Yet Another Side Channel Vulnerability

If you’ve closely followed Spectre and Meltdown, you’ll probably be aware of how botched the rollout of patches has been. With reports of systems being bricked, it’s been a risky problem to tackle at an enterprise level. Reduced CPU throughput in certain conditions, and with certain patches, shows how precarious even successful patching for CPU flaws can be.

Class action lawsuits against the manufacturer might offer some financial remedy, but in my view is it will take natural obsolescence and hardware refresh to really iron these kinds of issues out.
